Every customer, one record
Pick a customer and see the whole picture: every license they hold, every device those keys are running on, every payment they've made, and what they're worth over their lifetime — on one page, not five.
Start Free- Licenses in one list
- Every key linked to the customer, with product, status, and how many of its device slots are in use — one click through to the full license.
- Active devices
- A live count of the machines running this customer's keys, so you can see who's near their seat limit before they email you.
- Payments and lifetime revenue
- Their payment history and what they've paid you in total — assembled from your payment provider, not a spreadsheet you keep by hand.
- Keyed by email
- Records are matched on the customer's email, so a person who bought twice — even through two providers — is one customer, not two rows.

The customer, not the transaction
A payment provider is organised around payments. A license system is organised around keys. Neither is organised around the person — and the person is what you actually care about when a support email lands, a chargeback comes in, or you’re deciding who to talk to before shipping a big change.
Keylight keeps a record per customer. Open one and you see everything tied to that person in a single view: the licenses they hold, the devices those licenses are activated on, the payments they’ve made, and their lifetime revenue. No jumping between your Stripe dashboard, your key list, and a spreadsheet to reconstruct who someone is.
What’s on the record
- Licenses — every key linked to the customer, each showing its product, status, and how many device slots are in use. Click any one to drop into the full license.
- Active devices — a live count of the machines currently running this customer’s keys, across all of their licenses.
- Payments — their payment history, most recent first, with the amount and date of each.
- Lifetime revenue — what this customer has paid you in total, counted from the same payments, not typed in by hand.
- Details — their email, the date they became a customer, and an editable display name.
Assembled for you, keyed by email
You don’t build the record. Keylight does, from things that already happen: it issues a license, it receives a payment event, and it links both to a customer by the payer’s email. Someone who buys twice is one customer with two licenses — not two half-pictures you have to mentally merge.
That matching holds across payment providers. Whether the money came through Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Gumroad, Creem, or Shopify, the purchase lands under one record. If a key was issued outside the usual flow — a migrated customer, a manual grant — you can link it to the right customer by hand, and rename the record so it reads the way you think of them.
Your view, not theirs
This is the operator side. The customer record is what you see in the dashboard: one person’s whole history, for support, for revenue, for knowing your base. What the customer sees is a separate, self-serve page — the customer portal — where they manage their own keys and devices without going through your inbox. Two views of the same relationship, each built for who’s looking.
Frequently asked
Where does the customer record come from?+
It's assembled from the licenses Keylight issued and the payment events it received. When a payment provider sends a purchase, the payer's email links it to a customer record, so licenses and payments land under the same person automatically.
Does this work if I don't use Stripe?+
Yes. Customer records are built from whichever payment provider issued the payment — Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Gumroad, Creem, or Shopify. A customer who bought through more than one still shows up as a single record, matched on email.
Can I link a license to a customer by hand?+
Yes. Any license has a link-customer option, so a key issued outside the normal flow — a migrated customer, a manual grant — can be attached to the right record. You can also edit the customer's display name.
Is this the same as the customer portal?+
No. The customer record is your view, in the dashboard — the whole history of one customer. The customer portal is their view: a self-serve page where they manage their own keys and devices without emailing you.
